Terms & Conditions

  Effective Date: June 1, 2025

 Last Reviewed: June 1, 2025

Welcome to Skin and Essence Ltd. These Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) set out the agreement between you, our valued client, and us regarding the provision of our aesthetic services and the use of our website. These T&Cs are designed to provide a clear and transparent framework for our relationship, detailing what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

By booking an appointment, receiving a treatment, or using our website, you confirm your acceptance of these T&Cs. Should any part of these terms be unclear, please do not hesitate to seek clarification before proceeding with any service.

1. Our Services and Standards

Skin and Essence Ltd provides a range of professional aesthetic treatments at our Plymouth clinic. We are committed to delivering high-quality care, prioritising your safety and well-being. All services are provided in accordance with applicable UK regulations, professional standards for aesthetic procedures, and best practice guidelines, including those related to medical devices (MHRA) and professional conduct.

2. Your Responsibilities as a Client

Your cooperation is essential for your safety and the effectiveness of your treatments.

  • Eligibility:
    • You must be at least 18 years old to receive any injectable treatments (e.g., botulinum toxin or dermal fillers), as this is a legal requirement in the UK.
    • Age restrictions may apply to other treatments and will be discussed during your initial consultation.
  • Medical Disclosure: It is imperative that you provide a complete and accurate medical history during your consultation and update us on any changes prior to subsequent appointments. This includes, but is not limited to, details of past and current health conditions, medications, allergies, and previous aesthetic treatments. This information is critical for us to assess your suitability for treatment and ensure your safety. Failure to provide accurate information may compromise treatment efficacy and safety, for which Skin and Essence Ltd cannot be held liable.
  • Compliance with Instructions: You must strictly follow all pre-treatment and aftercare instructions provided by our practitioners. These instructions are vital for achieving optimal results and minimising potential risks or complications. Non-compliance may affect treatment outcomes and your safety.
  • Punctuality: Please aim to arrive in good time for your appointments. If you are significantly late, we reserve the right to shorten your treatment time or reschedule your appointment to avoid disruption to other clients. In such instances, cancellation fees (as outlined in section 3) may apply.
  • Conduct and Safety: We are dedicated to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all clients and staff. We expect respectful and appropriate conduct from everyone within our clinic. Behaviour deemed to materially disrupt our operations, compromise safety, or cause distress to others (e.g., verbal abuse, aggression, harassment, or deliberate damage to property) is unacceptable.
    • Should a client's conduct materially breach these standards, we reserve the right to:
      • Terminate the current service immediately.
      • Request the client to leave the premises.
      • Refuse future service.
    • In such circumstances, any fees paid for the unrendered portion of the service will be reviewed. Where a service cannot be completed due to a client's unacceptable conduct causing a material breach of these terms, any refund for the uncompleted portion of the service will be considered at our discretion, taking into account any costs or losses incurred by the clinic as a direct result of the client's behaviour. We will always act reasonably and proportionately in such matters.

3. Booking, Payments, and Cancellations

Efficient appointment management allows us to provide the best service to all our clients.

  • Consultation Fees: An initial consultation fee may be required for some treatments. This fee covers the practitioner's time and expertise in assessing your needs and discussing treatment options. The consultation fee is typically redeemable against your chosen treatment if booked within a specified timeframe, which will be confirmed at the time of booking.
  • Deposits: A deposit is required at the time of booking for all treatments. This deposit secures your appointment slot and will be applied towards the final cost of your treatment.
  • Payment: Full payment for your treatment or product is due at the time of service, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in advance. We accept various payment methods, which will be communicated to you at the clinic.

  • Rescheduling & Cancellations:

  • We understand that plans can change. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please provide us with as much notice as possible. To retain your deposit, you must reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time.
  • If you reschedule with at least 48 hours' notice, your deposit will be transferred to your new appointment.
  • For treatments involving products with a limited lifespan or requiring strict sequential application (e.g., some injectables or bespoke preparations), any rescheduled appointment must take place within 7 calendar days of the original appointment date. This is necessary to maintain product integrity, efficacy, and your safety, and to minimise waste. If a rescheduled appointment for such a treatment cannot be accommodated within this 7-day period, the deposit will be forfeited due to the perishable nature and specific handling requirements of the product. We will always endeavour to find a suitable alternative slot within this timeframe.
  • If you cancel your appointment (rather than rescheduling), your deposit will be forfeited regardless of notice period.
  • Should we need to cancel your appointment, your deposit will be fully refunded or transferred to a new date of your choosing.
  • "No-shows" (failing to attend an appointment without any prior notice) will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.

  • Refunds on Services:

  • Refunds are generally not issued once a treatment has been administered or commenced, as aesthetic treatments involve a service that has been performed, incurring costs for products, practitioner time, and clinic resources.
  • In the unlikely event that a service does not meet expected standards (e.g., due to a fault with the service provided), we will address this in line with your statutory consumer rights. Remedies may include corrective treatment, a partial refund, or other appropriate measures. All concerns must be raised via our Complaints Policy, available on our website.

  • Refunds on Products:

  • Products purchased from Skin and Essence Ltd are eligible for a refund or exchange only if they are unused, unopened, in their original packaging, and returned within 14 days of purchase, accompanied by a valid receipt. This excludes any products that are bespoke or have been unsealed for hygiene reasons. Your statutory rights regarding faulty goods remain unaffected.

4. Treatment Outcomes and Limitations

We strive to achieve excellent results, but it is important to maintain realistic expectations.

  • Consultation and Risks: All aesthetic procedures carry inherent risks, potential side effects, and possible complications. These will be thoroughly discussed with you during your comprehensive consultation, where you will be provided with detailed information and given the opportunity to ask questions. Your informed consent will be obtained before any treatment proceeds. It is your responsibility to understand the risks and benefits before consenting to treatment.
  • Individual Results May Vary and Image Use: The results of aesthetic treatments are highly individual and depend on various factors, including your unique physiology, lifestyle, adherence to aftercare instructions, and the specific treatment chosen. We cannot provide guarantees regarding specific outcomes or results. Before and after photographs (taken with your explicit consent) are illustrative and not a promise of identical results for all clients. In instances where the clinic wishes to use client images (including before and after photographs) for purposes beyond your individual clinical record, clients will be specifically consulted, and explicit, informed consent will be obtained prior to any image being used for such purposes.
  • Force Majeure: Skin and Essence Ltd will not be held liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under these T&Cs that is caused by events outside our reasonable control ("Force Majeure Event"). This includes, but is not limited to, acts of God, governmental actions, natural disasters, epidemics, and significant disruptions to transport or utilities. We will endeavour to inform you as soon as reasonably possible in such circumstances and work to reschedule services where appropriate.

5. Website Usage

  • Content Accuracy: While we strive for accuracy on our website, information regarding treatments, prices, and policies is subject to change. The most up-to-date and definitive information applicable to your specific treatment will always be provided during your in-clinic consultation.
  • Intellectual Property: All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is the property of Skin and Essence Ltd or its content suppliers and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this site without our express written permission.

6. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or best practices. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Effective Date" and "Last Reviewed" dates at the top. We encourage you to review these T&Cs periodically to stay informed of our current terms of service.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these T&Cs will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
